Potato cakes with meat on the plate

Ingredients: Patty dough:

  • 2 lb potato, cooked, mashed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup flour, plus on a board

Meat filling:

  • 1 lb ground meat, pork or chicken (or your favorite)
  • 1 clove of garlic, pressed/crushed
  • 1/2 onion, medium, pureed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. In a small bowl, mix ground meat, garlic, onion, egg, pepper, and salt well.
  2. In a bigger bowl, mix mashed potato, egg, salt, and flour.
  3. Transfer potato dough onto a floured board then knead adding more flour if necessary.
  4. Roll the dough by both hands, then cut into pieces (about 2 inches in diameter).
  5. Fill each piece with ground meat, closing it up inside, then form the round or oval patties.
  6. Cook patties in a skillet with oil, until meat inside is cooked thoroughly.
  7. Remove from a skillet, drizzle with crushed garlic if desired.
  8. Serve hot.
